In 1993, SILVERMAN began the transformation of the property at 180 Morgan Street in downtown Jersey City. The opening of The Hendrix marks the completion of a nearly three decades-long development endeavor to introduce an architecturally impressive and dynamic living experience just steps from Grove Street – the hub and heart of downtown Jersey City.

True to company tradition, SILVERMAN looked to the history of the neighborhood for inspiration for the name of the building. Earlier in Jersey City history, 180 Morgan Street intersected with what used to be known as Henderson Street, now known as Luis Muñoz Marín Boulevard. While the name ‘The Hendrix’ is a homage to an older Jersey City, the building’s design features a modern aesthetic with a nod to old world New York City glamour. Featuring accents of brass, sleek tiling, arched hallway entrances and custom light fixtures throughout. The Hendrix is an urban oasis which honors the past, the present, and the future of Jersey City.

The slender 41-story tower offers studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments; many homes are outfitted with terraces and sweeping views. The 40th and 41st floors are composed of penthouse apartments. Additional apartment features include Wi-Fi connected Bosch washer and dryers, hybrid ovens with convection and air fryer capabilities, walk-in closets and consistent design elements that impart the same character and charm seen throughout the building. 

Every element of the architecture at The Hendrix is thoughtfully designed. In addition to a convenience store and Aussie-born and internationally renowned Bourke Street Bakery, the building will be home to a custom-built public theater and art gallery operated by Jersey City arts organization, Art House Productions. Illuminated glass penthouse panels and a proper marquee will transform The Hendrix at dusk into a beacon of community arts within the downtown Jersey City neighborhood.
